This is my Mom's recipe and is very easy with few ingredients. It works very well with blackberries as well as fresh peaches, just adjust sugar to taste. If using blackberries thicken slightly with corn starch in the first step.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

No canned blueberries in this cobbler. It's filled with fresh ones and it's bursting with blueberry flavor. The crumble on top is light, airy, and crunchy. Perfect with the blueberry filling. This from-scratch cobbler is easy to make and delicious. Cobblers typically have more a cake-like topping, and this has a crumb-like one, but it's so good whatever you call it. Just add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a wonderful dessert.

How To Make blueberry cobbler (kuchen)

  • Blueberries, water, and sugar in a saucepan.
    1
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8-inch pie plate with cooking spray. I use a round glass Pyrex or fire king pie plate. In a saucepan combine blueberries, water, and sugar.
  • Stirring blueberry mixture while it boils.
    2
Bring to a boil. Reduce and simmer for 2 min. Stirring constantly.
  • Blueberries poured into a pie plate.
    3
Pour berries into bottom of pie plate.
  • Crumb topping ingredients in a blender.
    4
Combine the last 6 ingredients. Using a pastry blender, food processor, or fork work the dough until it resembles cornmeal.
  • Crumb mixture poured over the blueberries.
    5
Sprinkle the dough mixture over berries.
  • Blueberry Cobbler baking in the oven.
    6
Bake for 20 or 25 min. All ovens vary, check dough for doneness periodically. You want the top lightly brown.
  • Blueberry Cobbler (Kuchen) in a serving glass.
    7
Serve with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream.
