autumn bliss ~ pear, apple, & cranberry crisp

Needing to dream up a few recipes to use up the bushel basket of pears from a neighbor, I came up with this delightful dessert. It may be served hot with vanilla ice cream, or topped with whipped cream served cold or room temperature. Festive enough to serve at holiday gatherings, this simple dessert is sure to please. Enjoy!

Ingredients For autumn bliss ~ pear, apple, & cranberry crisp

    apples (i used golden delicious, but use what you like or have)
  • 3
    pears
  • 1 1/2 c
    fresh cleaned cranberries
  • 2/3 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • FOR TOPPING:
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    rolled oats
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine (1/2 stick) (do not use "spread" type margarine)

    Preheat oven to 350*

    Pare, core, and thinly slice apples and pears into large mixing bowl.

    To the apples and pears, add the cranberries, 2/3 C brown sugar, 4 Tbsp flour, and the cinnamon. Mix well till all the fruit is evenly coated. Pour fruit mixture into a 9x13 baking dish.

    In medium mixing bowl, mix together the rolled oats, 1 C flour, and 1 C brown sugar. Using a pastry blender or a fork, cut in the butter or margarine until there are no lumps left larger than a small pea. Sprinkle topping evenly over fruit.

    Bake at 350* for 1 hour or until lightly browned.
