Yummy - this apple pie recipe is perfect! With just the right mix of apples and pecans, you get a bit of crunch in every bite. The generous portion of brown sugar caramelizes while baking which adds to the wonderful flavor.

Ingredients For apple pecan pie

    pie crust shells
  • 6 c
    cored, sliced granny smith apples
  • 1-1/2 c
    pecan halves
  • 1-1/8 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1-1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    white sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice, fresh
  • 3 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    apple pie spice
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make apple pecan pie

    Preheat oven to 450. Rub soft butter on bottom and sides of deep dish pie pan, place pecans round side down until whole inside of pan is covered. Spread brown sugar until all nuts are covered.

    Place one pie crust on top of nuts and lightly press into nuts. Set aside.

    In bowl mix well lemon juice, flour, white sugar, spices, and vanilla. Add sliced apples and toss until coated. Pour evenly into piecrust. Cover with 2nd pie crust folding over sides and crimping together. (Don't worry how this looks as it is the bottom of your pie.) Poke holes at random with fork for release of steam.

    Bake in 450 oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 for 45 minutes.

    Remove from oven. Let cool until bubbling stops. IMPORTANT: Flip pie pecan side up, and serve hot. The pecans should be very shiny. Serve with ice cream.
