This is an easy topping to put together, and is great to sprinkle on things like a freshly-baked pumpkin pie or cheesecake, or even a nice big bowl of vanilla ice cream. In my case, I am using them as a crunchy topping to my citronfromage dessert. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

1/2 cpecans, finely chopped

1/2 cwalnuts, finely chopped

1/2 tspsalt, kosher variety

1/2 ccoconut sugar, light brown variety

1 pinchground cinnamon

1/4 cwater

1PREP/PREPARE

2Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).

3Add the pecans and salt to a small saucepan, over medium heat.

4Toss the nuts in the pan, until they begin to brown.

5Whisk the sugar, cinnamon, and water together in a bowl, and then add to the saucepan.

6Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the syrup begins to turn a nice golden color, about 8 – 10 minutes.

7Spread the mixture out on a piece of parchment paper, and allow to cool.

8Add the hardened candy to a small food prep, and give it a few 1-second pulses to break it into small pieces.

9Store in the fridge, using a small jar, until ready to use.
