ST.URHO DAY, MAR.16 is a NATIONAL HOLIDAY for FINN,s in U.S.A.. ST.URHO became our Saint for driving the grasshoppers out of FINLAND! Thus saving the grape vineyards. We wear green and purple to honor the day! This desert I baked using green apples & cranberries,is to honor the day! Traditionally a St URHO feast is a fish,pie,chowder or soup. O.K. We all know grapes do not grow in Finland. LOL- Could it be that they wanted to get a head start ST PATTY"S DAY!YES,Finn's do have a great sense of humor. On the 17th..I can take off the purple,for ST.PATTY'S DAY and the wearing of the GREEN

Ingredients For st.urho day mar.16th.. desert,for us finn's !

    green ,granny smith apple
  • 1
    8 oz, refrigerated crescent roll pkg.
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cardamon
  • 1 can
    lemon -lime soda
  • 1/2 c
    dried cranberries
  • 3/4 c
    sugar

How To Make st.urho day mar.16th.. desert,for us finn's !

    Preheat oven to 350 F. Open crescent package. Peel,core, and slice apple into 8 pieces. Place 1 apple piece on to the wide end of a crescent roll. Mix cinnamon and 1 cup sugar together. Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon onto each apple piece. Put 3-4 dried cranberries onto the crescent roll with the apples. Roll up from the wide end, and place in a greased baking pan.

    Heat: 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon-lime soda,and butter together. Remove from stove. Add the vanilla and cardamom. Pour over the rolls. Bake 35-40 minutes. I made a double recipe amount. This is great with whipped cream, or ice cream, maybe green ?
