- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/3 cups coconut flakes
- 1 cup pecans, in pieces
- 1 teaspoon imitation vanilla
How To Make grandma's coconut pecan frosting

Step 1Combine everything except the coconut, pecans, and vanilla in a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan. Cook, stirring over medium heat. Bring to a low boil and continue cooking until smooth and thick.

Step 2Add in the pecans and coconut, and bring back to a boil.

Step 3Turn off heat and stir in vanilla. Allow to cool before frosting or it will run.
