Tara needed to use very ripe apples, so out came the very large heavy bottom pan, and started adding ingredients while I measured...Her Papa was the taster and each taste had rave reviews! He said Stop! It is perfect, so we did.

Ingredients For tara's fried apples

  • 4 md
    tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 c
    butter, do not substitute
  • 1/2 c
    dark brown sugar
  • 4
    turns around pan of corsely ground salt
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • Just a pin
    frshly grated nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice

How To Make tara's fried apples

    Set aside apples. In a large heavy bottom pan, over medium heat melt butter; add sugar and spices, turn salt grinder 4 times around pan.

    Sprinkle flour over butter, wisk in water; add lemon juice.

    Add apples, stirring to coat; continue cooking until apples are soft, stirring now and then.

    Serve over vanilla ice cream; on pancakes or waffles; with pork and ham; or anything your heart desires!
