To me there is nothing more better then homemade ice cream. I remember my mom making it every summer as a child and listening to my parents saying how lucky we were since we didn't have to turn the handle, like they did when they were young. Everyone should invest in an ice cream maker. Your flavors are endless . I have seen the new way to make ice cream where you don't need an ice cream maker. And in truth I have not tried them. I will someday but for now I will do it this way. And have some fond memories while sitting around watching it churn.

Ingredients For strawberry ice cream

  • 2 c
    milk, whole
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    half and half
  • 4 c
    whipping cream
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    strawberry syrup
  • 2 1/2 c
    strawberries (mashed
  • 5 lb
    rock salt
  • 3 lg
    crushed ice

How To Make strawberry ice cream

    Make sure to Chill the metal canister, and beater for several hours before you pour in your ice cream mixture.

    Scald milk in a heavy bottom large pan, leave till milk boils around the edges. While waiting for this mash Strawberries. (how mashed is up to you)

    Remove from heat. Stir in all other ingredients except rock salt and ice. .Stir until well blended

    pour into chilled canister, placing the beater inside, covering with the lid, and placing inside of ice cream maker, fitting motor attachment as model instuctions indicate

    pour in ice around metal canister approximately 2inches, then 1/4 cup of rock salt, alternateing till you fill it to the top.(you will have left over salt and ice.)

    turn on motor make sure nothing is blocking canister from rotating. your instructions may vary. I would follow manufactures instructions

    it will take approx. 30 to 40 mins. mine took longer it was over 100 outside on the day we were making it and it was set up outside. but it was well worth it
