I learned to make this from my mother. I have no idea where she learned it from. Knowing my family, she probably learned it form her mother or grandmother. Anyways, its awsome tasting, and best served warm with a scoop of French vanilla icecream on top!

Ingredients For old fashioned apple crisp

  • FOR THE FILLING
  • 6 large apples or 10 small apples, peeled, cored and cut up
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • FOR THE CRUMB TOPPING
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar well packed
  • 1/3 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened

How To Make old fashioned apple crisp

    Preheat oven 375 to Place apples in a lightly greased baking dish.

    Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle over apples; lightly toss to mix. Dot with 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3
    Combine next three ingredients by hand until consistancy of a coarse meal.
  • 4
    Sprinkle mixture over apples. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
