Fat Free version: Pears, Orange & Lemons [and rinds], Candied Peels, Mixed Dried Fruits, dates, Cherries, Almonds, Mix ground spice, Ginger, water & liquor of Choice. When I made this I cut it down. I added 2-4 Table spoons of Shortening, Currants, Sultanas and Mixed peels. I added half a lemon, 2 Mandarin oranges, 2 Prunes & 6 dried Cherries. I Used 1 table spoon cranberries, Almonds, dates and icing Sugar. Lastly I added 1/2 to 1/4 teaspoon of different spices! I used 1-2 tablespoons of Water, adding Cooking Sherry and red wine. I also used between 1-2 tab

    finely chopped suet or shortening/other substitute

    apple
  • DRIED FRUIT

    mixed fruit peels
  • 1 lb
    dates
  • A POUND OF MIXED FRUIT
  • dried cherries
  • cranberries
  • prunes, pitted
  • DRIED INGREDIENTS
  • 50 g
    almonds
  • 1 lb
    caster sugar
  • nutmeg
  • cinnamon
  • ginger
  • LIQUID INGREDIENTS
  • 90 ml
    water
  • 90 ml
    alcohol of your choosing
  • ALTERNATIVES
  • 225 g
    dried pears
  • 1 lb
    raisins

How To Make chelsea's mincemeat recipe

    Gather, weigh and measure all needed ingredients and supplies

    Pare the lemons and oranges thinly and Simmer the rinds in Water [You can add your alcohol of choice] on Low until Tender. After they are tender, shred, chop or grate the rinds.

    Finely Chop all the ingredients doing your best to make everything the same size!

    Mix and stir in your dry ingredients.

    Add your liquid ingredients, adding more water/liquor as needed.

    Mix everything [thoroughly] in a large bowl and let sit undisturbed for anywhere from 7-12 hours or over night.

    Add mixture to a casserole dish, cover and bake at 180 degrees for one hour!

    Mix everything as desired before you Add the mixture to an air tight jar to store until you need it. *Best aged for 2-4 weeks**

    After your Mincemeat has been aged add the Mincemeat to a Casserole Dish, Cover it and bake at 180F for one hour.

    Store your Mincemeat into an Air Tight container until you are ready to try your hand at making Mincemeat pies.
