The Nutella frosting is amazing chocolate decadence in these cupcakes. If you love hazelnut, you'll love these. The vanilla cupcake is tender with a subtle flavor. It allows the Nutella frosting to shine. When mixed, the frosting is heavy but has an airy texture. Quite tasty.

Ingredients For vanilla nutella cupcakes

  • VANILLA CUPCAKES
  • 1 3/4 c
    cake flour
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2/3 c
    whole milk
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • NUTELLA FROSTING
  • 1/4 c
    Nutella or nocciolata
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 3/4 c
    confectioner’s sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make vanilla nutella cupcakes

  • Flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Oil, margarine, sour cream, vanilla extract, milk, sugar, and egg whisked together.

    In another bowl, whisk oil, margarine, sour cream, vanilla extract, milk, sugar, and egg.
  • Slowly adding flour to the egg mixture.

    Slowly add in flour mixture until a nice smooth batter forms.
  • Batter poured into a cupcake pan.

    Pour cupcake batter into a lined cupcake pan.
  • Vanilla cupcakes baking in the oven.

    Bake for about 20 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean. Let cool in pan.
  • Beaten butter in a bowl.

    In the bowl of your mixer, beat butter until smooth and whipped.
  • Confectioners' sugar and Nutella added to the butter.

    Add confectioner’s sugar until a thick smooth frosting forms. Add Nutella and vanilla extract.
  • Nutella frosting on the cupcake with chopped hazelnuts.

    Once the cupcakes have cooled completely, spread frosting liberally on each cupcake. If desired grate a chocolate hazelnut candy over each cupcake.
