1 cbutter, softened

1/2 cpowdered sugar

1/2 tsppeppermint extract

1 1/4 cflour

1/2 ccornstarch

2 Tbspbutter, softened

1/4 tsppeppermint extract

1-2 Tbspmilk

2-3drops food coloring, if desired
-
candy canes or hard peppermints, crushed
How To Make peppermint meltaways

1Combine butter, powdered sugar and 1/2 tsp peppermint in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Reduce speed to low, add flour and cornstarch. Beat until mixed. Cover, refrigerate firm, 30-60 minutes.

2Shape rounded tsp dough into 1" balls. Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

3Bake at 350 degrees 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly browned. Let stand on sheets 1 minute. Remove to cool completely.

4Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies. To make: combine powdered sugar, butter, extract and enough milk to desired consistency. Stir in food coloring if desired. Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy.
