Sounds like Ma's Mexican Wedding Cookies but with pecans. Got this from a book I read.

Ingredients For pecan butter balls

2 cpecans

2 cflour
-
1 cmelted butter
-
1/2 csugar

2 tspvanilla

1/4 tspsalt

powdered sugar
How To Make pecan butter balls

1Oven to 325 degrees. Chop pecans in blender or food processor until you have 2 cups. Combine all but powdered sugar. Roll one inch balls with floured hands and bake on parchment paper lined baking sheets. Bake 20-25 minutes. Remove on parchment paper to let cool slightly. While still warm, shake in paper bag with powdered sugar. Put back on paper and add more powdered sugar while they cool.
