You can use powdered cardamon, but the cookies taste even better using the cardamon seeds if you have it.

butter or margarine
1/2 c
brown sugar
egg white
1/2 c
whole wheat flour
3/4 c
all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
crushed cardamon seeds
1/2 tsp
1/2 c
finely chopped almonds
1/2 c
raw sugar
whole almonds

How to Make Minnesota Spice Cookies


  • 1Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg white.
  • 2Combine flours, baking powder, soda, cardamon, cinnamon, and almonds in a separate bowl. Stir in the butter/sugar mixture until well blended.
  • 3Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in raw sugar. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Press an almond into each ball of dough.
  • 4Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cookies slightly and then transfer to a rack to complete cooling.
