You can use powdered cardamon, but the cookies taste even better using the cardamon seeds if you have it.

Ingredients For minnesota spice cookies

  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1
    egg white
  • 1/2 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed cardamon seeds
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped almonds
  • 1/2 c
    raw sugar
  • whole almonds

How To Make minnesota spice cookies

    Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg white.

    Combine flours, baking powder, soda, cardamon, cinnamon, and almonds in a separate bowl. Stir in the butter/sugar mixture until well blended.

    Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in raw sugar. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Press an almond into each ball of dough.

    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cookies slightly and then transfer to a rack to complete cooling.
