You can use powdered cardamon, but the cookies taste even better using the cardamon seeds if you have it.

  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1
    egg white
  • 1/2 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    crushed cardamon seeds
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped almonds
  • 1/2 c
    raw sugar
  • ·
    whole almonds

How to Make Minnesota Spice Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg white.
  2. Combine flours, baking powder, soda, cardamon, cinnamon, and almonds in a separate bowl. Stir in the butter/sugar mixture until well blended.
  3. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in raw sugar. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Press an almond into each ball of dough.
  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cookies slightly and then transfer to a rack to complete cooling.
