Everyone loves this recipe! Tender, buttery, and fragrant, perfect with a hot cup of tea.
It is important to use culinary lavender because any others may be treated with chemical scents or pesticides. I found some at the Fresh Market for less than $2.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 stick
    butter, unsalted
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 Tbsp
    culinary lavender, crushed

How to Make Lavender Shortbread Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Blend butter and both sugars.
  3. Add in flour. I find 1/2 cup at a time works best.
  4. Add crushed lavender and blend well
  5. Turn out and press dough into a 8x8 baking pan. Pierce deeply with a fork.
  6. Bake for 50 - 60 minutes, until lightly browned.
  7. Slice immediately into squares and let cool before removing.
