Ingredients For kasztanki (chestnuts), mark

  • 2/3 c
    butter, unsalted
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa (i would say powder, unsweetened)
  • 1 c
    walnuts, ground
  • powdered sugar, optional

    Beat the butter with vanilla and sugar for 5 minutes. Combine with the flour mixed with the nuts Roll into marble sized balls Bake on a buttered cookie sheet in a 375F oven for 12 minutes Roll warm cookies in the cocoa Yields 2 dozen Note: I prefer a larger "chestnut", about the size of a real one. This may mean increasing the cooking time to about 15 minutes. Another nice variation is to add confectioner's sugar to the cocoa mix.
