These are a delicious cake like cookie, with a wonderful Mocha frosting, which I have used for many different desserts. This recipe comes from a Taste of Home magazine of mine. I have made these cookies more times than I can remember. Always loved by family and friends. I changed the recipe just a bit to my liking. Photo belongs to ToH Enjoy!.

Ingredients For chocolate drops

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 6 - 7 Tbsp
    baking cocoa
  • 1 2/3 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • FROSTING
  • 2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 c
    baking cocoa
  • 1/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/4 c
    hot strong brewed coffee
  • 3/4 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make chocolate drops

    In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla.. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts.

    Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool on pans for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Frosting: In a large bowl, beat the frosting ingredients until smooth. Frost cookies. I sometimes sprinkle the tops with fine chopped nuts.
