My husband's birthday was coming up, and, while we were in line at Kohl's, I pointed out the cute little cookbooks shaped like the product that was selling them (like a Planter's peanut book may be shaped like an unshelled peanut). Before I knew it, he had the M&M's book in hand. Now -- the recipe: the cookies totally flopped. As in "puddle". And, in spite of their unattractive looks, THEY WERE AMAZING. I couldn't stop eating them. So, I wish you the best of luck, and, know that, even if they flop for you, they will be delicious!
2In large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy; beat in sour cream, egg, maraschino cherry juice and vanilla. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in candy bits, walnuts, and cherries. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls about 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3Bake about 15 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; cool completely on wire racks. Store in tightly covered container.
