Blue Ribbon Recipe

The cookies are soft, chocolaty and chewy. You can make them into marshmallow chocolate tarts or the perfect little whoopie pie. Opened faced or as a sandwich, it doesn't matter how you make them, people will fight over the last crumb. So yummy!

Ingredients For chocolate best marshmallow cookies

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa
  • 18
    marshmallows, cut in half

How To Make chocolate best marshmallow cookies

  • Shortening and sugar in a bowl.

    Cream sugar and shortening.
  • Adding egg to shortening and sugar.

    Add egg, vanilla, and milk.
  • Flour, cocoa and baking soda added to mixture.

    Mix in flour, baking soda, and cocoa.
  • Spoonfuls of batter added to cookie sheet.

    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
  • Baked cookies from the oven.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 min.
  • Marshmallows added to tops of cookies.

    Remove from oven. Press a marshmallow half on each cookie.
  • Cookies with baked marshmallow.

    Bake 1 min longer.
  • Batch of cookies cooling on a rack.

    If you want to make this into a sandwich cookie, take one batch of the cookies out of the oven and let cool.
  • Marshmallows on top of a cookie half.

    When the second pan comes out of the oven, follow steps 6 and 7.
  • A dab of water on the marshmallow.

    When the cookies and marshmallow come out of the oven, dab a tiny bit of water on top of the marshmallow.
  • Second cookie placed on top of marshmallow.
