Ingredients For bonnie’s sour cream cookies with hazelnut frosting

  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons mace
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 11/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups crisco
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1teaspoon baking soda

How To Make bonnie’s sour cream cookies with hazelnut frosting

    Mix the first six ingredients together and then cut the shortening into the mixture to combine.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add beaten eggs, sour cream and baking soda and make soft dough and turn out on the cutting board. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch, using very little flour Cut into rounds using a two inch cutter. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, an inch apart.

    Bake cookies 15 to 18 minutes until light golden. Thin cookies will be crisp and thicker cookies will be softer. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies. Frost cookies if desired when cool.

    HAZELNUT FROSTING: 1/2 cup or 1 stick of unsalted butter, room temperature 8 ounces cream cheese 1 teaspoon hazelnut extract 3 cups powdered sugar Beat with hand mixer until smooth, adding more powdered sugar if necessary a spoonful at a time. Frost cookies. Refrigerate after frosting. Keep in an airtight container.
