This recipe is from my Great-Aunt Thelma, who has won several ribbons at the Iowa State Fair, with several of her recipes!

1 boxyellow cake mix

1/2 cmelted butter

1 1/2 cdark karo syrup

1 tspvanilla extract

1egg

3beaten eggs

1/2 cbrown sugar

How To Make aunt thelma's pecan pie bars

1Reserve 2/3 cup cake mix for later. Mix remaining mix, 1 egg, and butter. Press into a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

2In the meantime, mix the 2/3 cup cake mix with eggs, syrup, brown sugar, and vanilla. Pour into crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
