This recipe makes a delicious "candy" that tastes like Heath bars. I often take this to potlucks and NEVER have leftovers...and I've learned to carry a few copies of the recipe with me because I'm ALWAYS asked for it.

Ingredients For toffee crunch

  • 1/4 box
    saltine crackers ( 1 sleeve)
  • 2 stick
    butter (no substitutes)
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 10 oz
    peanut butter chips
  • 12 oz
    semi-sweet chocolate chips

How To Make toffee crunch

  • 1
In a medium saucepan, preferably nonstick, place the butter and brown sugar and cook over medium heat. After the butter has melted, stir mixture lightly, then increase heat. Bring to a boil and boil for 4 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat.
  • 2
Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350. On a 9 X 13 cookie sheet lined with foil, spread the saltine crackers in an even layer, trying to keep the sides touching.
  • 3
Pour the butter/brown sugar mixture over the crackers very quickly. You will want to have a spatula ready to spread the butter to cover all the crackers. Bake for 10 mins.
  • 4
Remove crackers from oven then sprinkle both types of chips over the crackers. Let sit for 2-3 minutes until chips soften, then use spatula to spread evenly and mix the chips together. This will take a couple of minutes. Place baking sheet in the refrigerator and let candy chill for about 2 hours. Break into chunks and store in an airtight container.
