One summer I stumbled upon one of the most amazing treats ever. We were having a BBQ and forgot the marshmallows for the kids to enjoy over the fire. The only thing I could find were stale PEEPS left over from Easter. The rest as they say was history. I stumbled upon the most incredible, caramelized treat ever. Try it and you will love it! The slow roasted and tortured marshmallow peep is by far my favorite way to eat a marshmallow peep with 2nd place going to the two week old stale peep.

Ingredients For the slow torture and roasting of marshmallow peeps

  • marshmallow peeps any flavor you choose

How To Make the slow torture and roasting of marshmallow peeps

  • 1
First you must rip the peep away from its conjoined twin and impale the peep on a two pronged spear (long handled skewer).
  • 2
Position the peep high above an open flame and torture the peep until it begins to get soft and puffy from the melting of the peeps internal marshmallow life-force. Do not allow the peep to melt to the point of falling off of the impaling spear.
  • 3
Slowly bring the peep down closer to the fire and allow the outer sugar coating to bubble and if it catches fire, extinguish with a puff of air (blow out the flame) and continue until the outer flesh of the peep is golden bubbling brown.
  • 4
Remove the roasted peep from the spear onto a slab (plate) and allow to rest and cool before consuming your peep with wild abandon.
