Please note: the flavor of your fudge can be modified simply by adding any other flavoring of morsels. I make butterscotch fudge, chocolate mint fudge, peanut butter fudge, etc. You get the picture. Please note too that you can choose to add the nuts or not, your choice.

Also note: You may choice instead to line your 13 x 9 x 2 inch glass pan with wax paper, making sure to extend extra wax paper over the side to grab, so after the fudge sets it is easily removed from the pan and can be placed on a large cutting board to cut into squares. Plus this frees up your glass pan for the next batch

How to Make Old Fashion Fudge

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine in double boiler or thick Teflon type coated pot the (first 3 ingredients) sugar, evaporated milk and butter.
  2. COOK over medium heat while stirring gently with a wooden spoon until 236 degrees or until it forms a small ball in cold water, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and add (the next 4 ingredients in order shown) morsels, miniature marshmallows, extract and nuts:
  3. STIR until morsels are melted and all ingredients are blended. Pour into buttered 13 x 9 x 2 inch glass pan. Score and cut into squares when cooled.
  4. You may choice instead to line your 13 x 9 x 2 inch glass pan with wax paper, making sure to extend extra wax paper over the side to grab, so after the fudge sets it is easily removed from the pan and can be placed on a large cutting board to cut into squares. Plus this frees up your glass pan for the next batch of fudge.
  5. Please note: the flavor of your fudge can be modified simply by adding any other flavoring of morsels. I make butterscotch fudge, chocolate mint fudge, peanut butter fudge, etc. You get the picture. Please note too that you can choose to add the nuts or not, your choice.
