If you like toffee candy bars, you're going to love this English toffee. It reminds us of something you can pick up at a candy shop. The toffee is crackly, gooey, crunchy, and chocolaty all wrapped up in one piece of candy. Incredibly easy to make, you'll want to make this English toffee all the time, not just at Christmas.

Ingredients For english toffee

  • butter for greasing
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    butter (do not substitute)
  • 3 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 pkg
    milk chocolate chips, roughly 1 cup
  • 3/4 c
    chopped pecans

How To Make english toffee

  • Sugar, water, and butter in a sauce pan.

    Butter a large cookie sheet. Combine sugar, butter, and water in a saucepan.
  • Mixture cooking to a hard crack stage.

    Cook to 300 degrees (hard crack), stirring constantly to prevent burning (about 10 minutes over medium-high heat).
  • Adding vanilla extract.

    Add the vanilla. Stir.
  • Pouring toffee onto a greased baking sheet.

    Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.
  • Melted chocolate chips spread on top of the toffee candy.

    Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and spread them evenly as they melt.
  • Nuts sprinkled on top of the chocolate.

    While still warm, sprinkle nuts on top.
  • English Toffee broken into pieces.

    Cool and break into pieces.
