This is a recipe that was handed down from my mother-in-law Dottie for her caramel sauce. Although she was an amazing cook, her caramel sauce was the absolute best. I tried using other recipes, but it never compared to hers. Sounds easy? Try other recipes and you'll know what I'm talking about. It was a favorite for her kids and now I am making it for mine. Not only is it great on the usual foods like ice cream and as an apple dip, I've used in on cakes, in icings, bananas foster and other wonderful recipes.
