My mom loved recipes. She read them in magazines, exchanged them with friends, clipped, saved, and used them. But she had so many that she might make something once or twice and then she would move on to other things. She had her regular staple dishes (as everyone does) but every once in a while she would make something fantastic. I remember her making this recipe only once or twice but I fell in love with it. I knew I loved gingerbread because of this recipe. It was soft, warm, spiced just right, and tasted good with a little butter spread on it, like bread. My mouth is watering!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This is one of those old-fashioned recipes with simple ingredients. It's delicious and tastes of Christmas. The gingerbread is soft, tender, and full of spices. The bread is heavenly - not overly sweet. We made it extra special by serving it with sweetened whipped cream. A perfect recipe for the holiday season.
