German Christmas Gingerbread

1 cbutter, softened

2 cpacked brown sugar

3eggs
-
2/3 choney
-
1/4 corange liqueur
-
1 csour cream
-
1/2 corange juice (i use fresh squeezed)

1 2/3 call-purpose flour
-
1 cwhole wheat flour
-
4 tspbaking powder
-
2 tspground ginger
-
1 tspground cinnamon
-
1/4 tspground nutmeg
-
1/4 tspground cloves
-
1 craisins
-
1 cblanched slivered almonds (optional)
How to Make German Christmas Gingerbread
- Whisk together the flours, baking powder and spices.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter with the brown sugar. Beat in the eggs, then the honey, orange liqueur, sour cream and orange juice. Beat the flour mixture into the creamed mixture and then stir in the raisins and almonds. Turn batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
- Bake cake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 80 minutes or until it tests done with toothpick. Transfer to a rack to cool. Top with a dollop of whip cream or Cool Whip (if desired).
