A great way to turn your favorite cake into a finger food.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

I've had cake balls before, but never with a German chocolate cake. I loved it! The coconut pecan frosting mixed with the cake makes for a really moist and rich cake ball. The white chocolate coating on the outside makes this stand out. The white chocolate/chocolate flavor combination is a great change from the traditional chocolate coating. How to Make German Chocolate Cake Balls

Test Kitchen Tips
The cake is very moist. We recommend keeping them in the fridge and only taking out a few at a time while coating. If they become room temperature, they are hard to work with.

Step-by-Step

  1. Prepare cake according to package direction.
  2. Bake in a 9x13 pan and set aside to cool.
  3. Once cake is cool, break apart cake. Mix in frosting.
  4. Mix frosting until completely blended with cake crumbs.
  5. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls. Refrigerate until firm.
  6. Melt candy coating according to directions.
  7. Coat each cake ball until covered.
  8. Allow coating to set before serving.
