Coffee Cake is one of those go to desserts that everyone likes, but everyone has their own preference! Whether you like apples, peaches, chocolate chips, walnuts or almonds-this is the cake for you! It's my most requested cake for a cake sale and my family loves it as well! Be creative and enjoy!

Ingredients For create your own coffee cake

  • CAKE
  • 1/4 lb
    unsalted butter
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • fresh or canned sliced apples, peaches, any fruit you like or mini chocolate chips
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts (any variety)
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon

How To Make create your own coffee cake

    Cream together butter and sugar. Can be done by hand or with an electric mixer. Add eggs and incorporate into butter mixture. Add dry ingredients and incorporate. Gradually add sour cream and vanilla. Do not over beat.

    If using chocolate chips add to batter now. Otherwise, put half of batter into a buttered and floured tube pan. If using fruit arrange fresh or drained fruit on the batter. Use as much or as little as you like. Sprinkle with one half the topping. Add remaining batter, smooth to edges of pan. Sprinkle with remaining topping. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until done.

    Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes in pan on rack. Use a plate to invert cake and remove from outer pan. Carefully remove bottom and inner tube insert. Invert again so that the topping is on top. Cool until cool enough to eat, great with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
