Great recipe find in a booklet for 123 what's cookin' recipes ..Don't know where I got the recipe booklet from- maybe an estate sale of bakery flyer ad.

Ingredients For chocolate cherry bars

  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 15 oz
    pkg. brownie mix
  • 1 c
    white candy chips
  • 1 c
    chopped macadamia nuts or what's on hand
  • 1 c
    sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 c
    maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 14 oz
    can sweetened condensed milk

How To Make chocolate cherry bars

    Preheat oven to 350^. Spray a 9x13-inch cake pan. --- Mix together the dry brownie mix and the melted butter and press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake about 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven.

    Sprinkle white chips evenly over top of chocolate crust, then the nuts, coconut and cherries. Drizzle with the sweetened condensed milk evenly too!

    Bake for another 25-30 minutes. Cool completely the drizzle with 1/2 cup melted chocolate or white chips,mixed with 1 teaspoon of Crisco shortening, if desired. Melt the chocolate and Crisco in the microwave for 30 seconds stir until smooth. Repeat if necessary.
