I made these brownies for my boss's birthday and she was delighted with them. She is a peanut butter fan also. The layer of peanut butter and vanilla chips in the middle is kind of an extra treat. Well I did not get a raise but I did get rave reviews from the office staff and my boss.

  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    hersheys cocoa
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 3
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • PEANUTBUTTER LAYER
  • 2 c
    vanilla chips
  • 3/4 c
    peanut butter
  • FROSTING
  • 1 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1 1/2
    squares of unsweetened chocolate melted
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make birthday brownies

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 13x9 pan with Pam. Combine the sugar, eggs butter and vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Mix the flour combination with the butter combination. Bake for 35 minutes until the sides pull away from the pan.

    When the brownies are done, set aside until completely cool.

    When the brownies are cool melt the vanilla chocolate chips and the peanut butter in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes. Stir well so it is combined. Spread on top of the brownies evenly. Layer should be about 1/4 inch thick Refrigerate until the top cools and hardens.

    In a small bowl with a mixer at medium speed mix together softened butter and salt until it is fluffy. Add melted chocolate, milk, and vanilla extract, beating till well blended. Add powdered sugar and mix till light and creamy.

    Frost the cake over top the peanut butter layer and take the chopped peanut butter cups and sprinkle over the frosting so that the whole brownie is covered.
