Ingredients For apple bars

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    butter
  • 1
    egg, slightly beaten
  • 6 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 2 lb
    tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced

How To Make apple bars

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    In a mixing bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbles.

    Stir in egg until combined.

    Press half the mixture into a 9x9 inch baking pan.

    In a large bowl, stir together 6 Tbsp. sugar, 2 Tbsp. flour and cinnamon together; add sliced apples and toss lightly to combine.

    Layer apple mixture evenly over crust.

    Sprinkle with remaining crumbly mixture.

    Bake 45-50 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool and cut into bars.
