We were having my parents for dinner, my mom loves this almond cake, I asked my 15 year old daughter to help out. She made the cake and was the cake decorator, after it was done she said " mom, aren't you going to take a picture and share my cake on your food site?" . "Of course" I said, needless to say the decorating skills are not great.

Ingredients For almond cake

  • absolutely almond cake mix
  • 1 stick
    melted butter
  • 1/2 c
    apple cider
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • ICING
  • 4 oz
    cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 stick
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    powder sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • melted chocolate to drizzle
  • BUTTERED ALMONDS
  • almonds, slivered
  • 1/2 stick
    butter

How To Make almond cake

  • 1
    cake - I use the almond cake from tastefully simple - mix in a bowl the cake mix egg cider and water, pour in a greased loaf pan bake as directed.

    buttered almonds - melt the butter in a sauté pan toss in the almonds until light golden brown set aside to cool.

    icing - cream the butter and cream cheese with a mixer add the sugar and vanilla beat until smooth
  • 4
    after the cake has warmed and is removed from the pan, ice the cake drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle with the buttered almonds.
