  • 2 c
    old fashioned rolled oats
  • 4 c
    evaporated skim milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c
    well packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    black walnuts
  • 1/2 c
    dried cherries
  • 1 large
    apple, peeled and diced

How to Make Michigan Baked Oatmeal


  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. coat a 3 qt. casserole dish or baking pan with nonstick spray. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Transfer to baking dish.
  3. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
  4. variation: omit black walnuts and cherries and instead add 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 cup raisins, and 1/2 cup chopped peanuts.
