Ingredients

  • 1 c
    skim milk
  • 1/2 c
    old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2
    granny smith apple, peeled and cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp
    almonds, slivered

How to Make Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal

Step-by-Step

  1. In a small saucepan heat the milk, while stirring, over medium heat until it just begins to boil.
  2. Stir in the oats, apple pieces, brown sugar and cinnamon. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats are cooked, about 7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the slivered almonds and turn off the heat. Let the oatmeal stand for 10 minutes, or until its thick.
