This dish has been our family Christmas breakfast, for about 35 years. We really look forward to it; especially, my husband. He even makes it some of the time. Chill time, is not included, in prep time. Must chill at least 4 hrs. Overnight even better.

How To Make ham breakfast casserole by sharon colyer

  • 1
I use a 12 x 7 greased casserole or baking dish. Spray baking dish with cooking spray.
  • 2
Put half of ham, cheese, & bread cubes in prepared baking dish. Sprinkle this with 1 tsp. dry mustard & distribute the 1 Tb. of soft margarine per layer, in little blobs, spaced out. Repeat procedure on second layer.
  • 3
Mix remaining items & pour over all. Chill covered at least 4 hours. Best chilled overnight. When ready to cook & serve, set the casserole out on counter for 20-30 minutes, before putting in the oven. Preheat oven to 350°. Add a little extra milk, if bread seems dry, before baking. Bake for 1 hour. If seems too liquidy, cook, until egg mixture is more set. Remove from oven and let casserole sit for about 10 minutes.
