My grandmother, from Newfoundland, made this delicious banana bread for us when we were growing up; I haven't changed a single thing and it reminds me of her whenever I smell it baking in the oven, especially on a cold, snowy winter day!

Ingredients For grandmother o'brien's banana bread

    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter (softened)
  • 1/2 c
    bananas (mashed)
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 c
    walnut pieces

How To Make grandmother o'brien's banana bread

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

    Lightly grease loaf pan (or use 18 muffin liners)

    In large bowl, mix together the eggs, sugar and butter. When thoroughly mixed, add mashed bananas.

    In small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Slowly fold into the banana mix. If desired, add ¾ cup of walnut pieces. Pour mixture into lightly greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
