I took my mother's Banana Bread Recipe and added my own personal touch. The crumble topping makes the bread even tastier and yummy.

Ingredients For banana bread

  • 3/4 c
    oil (canola or corn oil)
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • 4 1/2
    bananas
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c
    yoghurt
  • 3/4 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c
    chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    all purpose flour

How To Make banana bread

    Beat oil and sugar together. Add eggs and banana pulp (mashed bananas) and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients, yoghurt and vanilla. Mix well and add nuts. Pour into greased 10 inch tube pan or 2 loaf pans.

    Mix the topping together until butter is in small pieces. Put the topping over the top of the cake. Bake in preheated over 350 degrees about 1 hour until it tests done (toothpick comes out clean). Cool well then store.

    I take my cakes out of the pan about five – seven minutes after it comes out of the oven then cool them on a cake rack.
