Stout Beer Bread with Pecan and Prune

I love to cook with beer. It lends a dimension of flavor with such ease and never seems to over-power. This Stout Beer Bread is very easy to make. Pop it in the oven a couple of hours before your meal and you'll be good to go. It goes well with simple, yet hearty meats, sausages, or sharp cheeses.

  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 c
    dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1/3 c
    prunes, snipped small
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 can(s)
    14.9 oz murphy's stout beer (or equivalant)

How to Make Stout Beer Bread with Pecan and Prune


  1. Grease a regular sized loaf pan, Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place all ingredients except the oil and beer in a large mixing bowl. Mix well with a fork.
  3. Add the oil a beer. Mix with a large spoon or spatula spoon just until mixed.
  4. Turn out into prepared pan. Bake in pre-heated oven for 1 hour.
  5. Remove from oven . Remove from pan and cool on rack.
  6. This bread can be served slightly warm or at room temperature with some softened butter. It goes well with simple, yet hearty meats and sausages.
