Swedish Sugar Toast

As a child we were served this frequently. Always thinking sugar was the best thing ever to eat.
This is still a favorite with our Grand kids, but we limit the number of pieces each of them eat.

1/2 c
1 tsp
ground cinnamon
1 tsp
ground cardamon
1/4 tsp
ground cloves
butter, softened
loaf sliced white bread

How to Make Swedish Sugar Toast


  • 1In a small bowl, combine sugar, cardamom and cloves. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread; sprinkle sugar mixture on buttered side.

    Cut in half diagonally.

    Place on ungreased baking sheets.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • 2Serve warm with syrup or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
