This is a mildly sweet, buttery cornbread...quite old-fashioned except for the use of sour cream. However, the sour cream imparts a moistness and delicious flavor.

  • 1 c
  • 1 c
  • 1/3 c
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp
  • 3/4 c
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 2
  • 6 Tbsp
    melted butter (3/4 stick)

How to Make Country Kitchen Cornbread


  1. In a bowl, stir together first 5 ingredients until blended.
  2. In another bowl, beat together remaining ingredients until blended.
  3. Add the dry ingredients and stir until mixture is blended. Do not overmix.
  4. Spread batter into a greased 9x9-inch pan and bake in a 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and a cake tester, inserted in center, comes out clean.
  5. Cut into squares and serve warm.
