This Two For One is a very simple recipe for a grilling party! The filling can be made ahead.. and you cook two items together and create two separate items for your table... a real time saver and a perfect mingling of flavors! This recipe was inspired by my friend Caryn who is an Aux Chef.

Ingredients For two for one! poppers and sausage!

  • PEPPERS AND SAUSAGES:
  • 2 lg
smoked sausages (cut on a slight angle as shown in photo)
  • 20 lg
jalapeno peppers (cut lengthwise in half, deveined and deseeded)
  • POPPER FILLING:
  • 1 pkg
    (8 ounces) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 pkg
(8 ounces) shredded cheese of choice
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS TO ADD TO FILLING OR AS GARNISH
  • minced red bell pepper, crisp bacon (crumbled)

How To Make two for one! poppers and sausage!

  • 1
Combine the cream cheese, sour cream and spices together in small mixing bowl. Cream together well. Stir in the shredded cheese of your choice. Set aside (at room temperature) until needed.
  • Smoked sausage cut on an angle.
    2
Cut the sausages on a slight angle (as shown in photo). Place in a disposable grilling pan.
  • Fresh jalepeno peppers
    3
Cut the peppers lengthwise, remove the seeds and veins. Place into the same pan as the sausages. Cook until the peppers are tender and the sausage pieces are browned a bit.
  • Smoked sausage and jalepeno peppers (cut peppers in half and remove veins and seeds). Place both in a disposable pan on the grill. Cook until both are done and have color changes.
    4
Remove the grilled peppers to a platter. Spoon filling into the peppers. Serve!
  • 5
Place the peppers onto a platter and serve! By cooking the peppers and sausages together in the grill pan, the sausages add a bit of "oil" to move the peppers and sausages around easily, and the peppers give a slight hint of heat to the sausages! Optional: you can add optional ingredients to the filling... or use as a garnish. I usually do that for parties.
