Quick and super fast to put together, these little bite size hors d'oeuvre are perfect to serve. Very flavorful and healthy, this is a great recipe to make for your next party!

Ingredients For sardine cups

  • 24
    (3" x 3") egg wonton wrappers
  • 2 can
    (100g each) slightly smoked sardines in olive oil, drained
  • 2 oz
    light cream cheese, softened
  • 2 Tbsp
    mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp
    red peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    fresh chives, finely chopped plus more for garnish
  • 4-5 dash
    hot sauce such as cholula®, or more to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste (i always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 1 pinch
    ground himalayan sea salt
  • sweet paprika, for garnish

How To Make sardine cups

    Preheat oven to 350ºF. Fit wonton wrappers into each hole of a greased mini muffin tin. Spray wontons lightly with cooking spray. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove from the heat, cool for 2 minutes and then remove from pan.

    Meanwhile, combine in a bowl sardines, cream cheese, mayo, red pepper and lemon juice; stir and mashed. Add chopped chives, hot sauce, freshly ground black pepper and salt; stir, taste and adjust if needed. Fill up the wonton wrappers (just the amount you need otherwise they’ll get soggy) with the sardine mixture and garnish with paprika, chives and a couple drops of hot sauce. Makes 24 cups
