Made these for a staff meeting, and they were an instant favorite. Quite spicy, I tweaked the original version by adding bacon to the mix. Great for those game day parties as well.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

These jalapeño popper wontons are so good, they all may be eaten by the time you finish frying. The outside is crisp while the inside filling is creamy and a flavor explosion. The cream cheese and Monterey Jack cheese melt together and cool down the spicy jalapeños. Bacon is a delicious addition and gives a smoky, savory flavor to the poppers. A wonderful game day appetizer.

How To Make jalapeño bacon wonton poppers

Test Kitchen Tips
These wontons fry fast. We suggest preparing all the wontons before you start to fry them. Also, we dipped these in ranch dressing to further cool down the spiciness.
  • Jalapeno Bacon Wonton ingredients in a bowl.
    1
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, Monterey Jack, bacon, jalapeño, garlic, and green onions. (I usually prepare this in advance to meld the flavors.)
  • Filling on wonton wrappers ready to fold.
    2
Fill each wonton wrapper with about 1 tablespoon cream cheese mixture each. Moisten the edges with water and fold into a triangle shape. Seal the edges tightly.
  • Frying the wontons in oil.
    3
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Drop a few wontons at a time into the oil and fry quickly, turning once.
  • Draining fried wontons on paper towels.

Remove when golden brown and drain on paper towels.
  • Jalapeno Bacon Wonton Wrapper cut in half.
