This spicy, flavor-filled chili is a favorite of my family. Though I change it up a little sometimes, I think this is its best version.

Ingredients For tammy's super bowl chili

  • 6 slice
    bacon
  • 1 lb
    smoked sausage
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion
  • 1
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1
    green jalapeno pepper, diced
  • 1/4 c
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 tsp
    celery seed
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 3 c
    diced italian tomatoes, canned works fine
  • 1 Tbsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 can
    15 oz pinto beans
  • 1 can
    15 oz kidney beans
  • 1 c
    dark beer
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar

How To Make tammy's super bowl chili

    Brown bacon in a large Dutch oven. Remove bacon, crumble and set aside. Slice the sausage in half, lengthwise , then into i-inch pieces. Fry in bacon fat until browned. Remove and set aside with bacon. Pour off excess fat from pot. Brown the beef, drain and set aside. Leave excess fat in pan.

    In same pan, cook the onion, bell pepper, garlic, and jalepeno over low heat for 5 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, celery seed and chili powder. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add tomatoes with liquid and meats to onion mixture. Stir in cayenne pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Add beans with liquid, beer and brown sugar and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
