Ingredients

  • 4 lb
    beef short ribs
  • 8 c
    water
  • 2 large
    onions, coarsely chopped
  • 3
    green bell peppers, chopped
  • 4
    celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    freshly ground black pepper
  • 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    water

How to Make Short Ribs In Gravy

Step-by-Step

  1. Slice short ribs across bone into 1-inch thick pieces.
  2. Wash the short ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Place the short ribs, 8 cups of water, onions, green peppers, celery, salt and pepper in a heavy 6-quart pot.
  4. Heat over medium-high heat until boiling.
  5. Reduce the heat to simmering and simmer until the short ribs are tender, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  6. Remove the short ribs to a bowl and keep warm.
