A bartender friend of mine got me hooked on a liqueur from South Africa called, AMARULA CREAM, and I can't get enough of it.
It's like a fruity, exotic version of Bailey's Irish Cream, & to me it tastes like caramelized fruit (mango, papaya).
My friend said this is the most popular drink made with Amarula. This makes a great after-dinner drink.

AMARULA CREAM is made from the fruit of the Marula tree, that's found in South Africa. The fruit is fermented into a wine that's aged in oak barrels for 2 yrs. It's then mixed with fresh cream.

How to Make Dom Pedro (drink)

Step-by-Step

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend well. Pour into a glass and garnish with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or chocolate shavings (or fruit, if desired).
  2. *VARIATION*
To kick it up a notch, add a little vodka, brandy or cognac. This will thin it out so it's more like a cocktail, and also cut some of the sweetness.

    DOM PEDRO SHAKE:
    4 scoops vanilla ice cream
    1 cup milk
    2 shots Amarula Cream Liqueur

Combine in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass.
