I have an uncle who lived in Texas for quite a while and learned how to make great chili, this is one of his recipes.

Ingredients For spicy texas chili

  • 2 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1-1/2 lb
    boneless beef sirloin steak, 3/4"-thick, cut into 1/2" slices
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 3 c
    spicy, chunky salsa
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1
    15 oz can red kidney beans, drained
  • chili toppings: tomato, sour cream, shredded cheese

How To Make spicy texas chili

    Heat 1 tbsp oil in lg pot, over med-high heat. In batches, brown beef. Remove beef from pot.

    Add to pot 1 tbsp oil. Cook onion and garlic for 2 mins. Add salsa, water, chili powder, cumin, and beans.

    Cover and cook over medium heat until heated through, and beef is tender. Top w/ chili toppings.
