Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb
    lean meat, any will do
  • 1 large
    onion
  • 1 large
    green pepper
  • 1 c
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2 c
    water

How to Make Homestyle Pepper Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. cut meat in thin slices, marinade with the soy sauce at least an hour
  2. meanwhile, cut the onion & pepper into thick slices,in a wok..( you can use a skillet)add the olive oil, and brown the thin sliced meat on both sides... only the meat not the soy sauce.this should be done on med-high heat( seals in the juices)a couple minutes on each side, don't over cook.
  3. take out the meat to rest...meanwhile in same wok add the onions & peppers, saute a few minutes, add back the soy sauce
  4. mix the water with the cornstarch and add in, this will make a nice semi-thick sauce, put the meat back in and cover for about 30 mins on low...till all the flavors incorporate and the onions & peppers are semi-soft ( not mushy)
